"Before you can change |
A quilt is a mosaic of pieces of fabric sewn together by a common thread - similar to humans having a common bond of love binding us
together. Just as there are many different colors, shapes and sizes in the fabric world, so too are there differences among people
and cultures.
What is common to all of us is the red blood that runs through our veins to a heart that feels pain and suffering when it experiences the
loss of a loved one.
To learn tolerance, you must first have a common goal that gives us a reason to work together. Students from area high
schools came together in Peace and Love to make a quilt to send to Red Lake Senior High School in Minnesota where that school
experienced so many young lives lost to violence.
I am so proud when I look back at our youth who are our future tomorrow knowing there are some who want to change
the world and make it better.....
We can change one mind at a time, starting with mine!
Jacksonville High School
Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and
Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) Clubs
Southwest High School
Stitch-N-Stallions of Jacksonville North Carolina
and was sent to
the Indian Reservation Red Lake
Minnesota High School in 2005
after the tragic loss of innocent lives due to
violence
and now hangs in their front office of the school.....
